Flemings Mayfair announces £14m refurbishment plan

Luxury boutique hotel, Flemings Mayfair has announced plans for an extensive £14m refurbishment, due to be completed in Q1 of 2016.

Work is already underway to transform the family-owned hotel, which will see 129 bedrooms renovated, as well as a tea lounge, bar and new restaurant venture by Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin. The hotel has been privately owned by the same family for more than 40 years and the next year will mark 12 months of change for the boutique.

Ten luxury Mayfair apartments and suites have already been completed, before the rest of the refurbishment takes place in stages. Each bedroom will be transform floor-by-floor so the hotel can remain open throughout. The first 40 bedrooms will be finished in June alongside the Drawing Room, a 30-cover space which will be designed to host afternoon tea.

The new restaurant at Flemings will launch in March 2016, with chef Shaun Rankin at the helm who will run the venture alongside his current restaurant, Ormer, in Jersey. The 80-cover restaurant and 40-cover bar will offer a modern British menu complete with a chef’s table and two private dining rooms.

General Manager, Henrik Muehle joined Flemings Mayfair Hotel in 2014 to drive the exciting refurbishment plans. Having launched St. James’s Hotel & Club Mayfair with Michelin-starred chef William Drabble, and having worked at The Capital Hotel with two Michelin-starred Eric Chavot, Mr Muehle brings a wealth of experience in the luxury hotel and restaurant sector.

Henrik Muehle comments: “We are very excited about the changes at this historic hotel which dates back to 1851. The investment will allow us to offer our guests the very best in luxury accommodation and fine-dining, ensuring Flemings Mayfair remains firmly on the map for both UK and international visitors. My aim, over the next few years, is to establish Flemings Mayfair as one of the leading boutique hotels in London.”
