WORLD FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER RANKIN OPENS FIRST EVER GLOBAL ART EXHIBITION WHERE ART IS CREATED LIVE IN REAL TIME

Contemporary artists completed work in front of live audiences across cities in Europe: Berlin, Brussels, Manchester, Milan, and Paris

To kick off it’s European tour, over the weekend Berlin audiences were able to observe art come to life as it was created in front of their eyes during the first ever art exhibition of its kind with proceeds used to sponsor students of the Design Akademie Berlin.

Germany which is known for its creative talent and expression, hosted artists including world renowned photographer Rankin in a disused subway station under Potsdamer Platz. With the aim of encouraging people to embrace creativity.

The bespoke art was created by selected contemporary artists such as Berlin born Superblast and German based illustrator Olaf Hajek which were especially designed to encourage people embracing their creativity.

Speaking about his experience in the photography world and photographing the likes of the Queen, Madonna and Bjork as well as travelling the world Rankin said, “[Berlin is a] very inspiring city and the people are very inspiring.” When asked who he’d like to work with next, Rankin admitted he’d love to work with Obama, Sean Penn and Gigi Hadid, “there’s something about Gigi, that when you shoot her it’s like shooting an old Hollywood star,” he said.

The concept of the CANVAS BAR was simple and innovative at the same time: white walls, naked rooms and an energetic atmosphere transform the U3 in Berlin into a creative space for stars and newcomers of the scene. Among them were the shooting star Paul Schrader, flower artist Mary Lennox and lettering artist Stefan Kunz.

Interactive workshops with selected artists also gave visitors to the CANVAS BAR the opportunity to become creative and to try themselves out.
