ZONAL CHECKS OUT £14,000 GIVING HOPE TO CHILDREN

Following a raft of team fundraising activity, the UK’s leading supplier of hospitality management solutions, Edinburgh based Zonal Retail Data Systems has raised more than £14,000 for Hope for Children.

To celebrate its 35th year of trading and to give something back to local communities at home and abroad, the company formed a partnership with national charity Hope for Children.

In Scotland, Zonal will support Hope for Children’s partner the Lothian Autistic Society, which provides services, information and practical support to individuals, families and carers affected by autism.

Further from home, the company will help fund a number of projects in India and Uganda, all aimed at bringing hope to children who have limited life opportunities. From helping children in New Delhi and Agra off the streets and into education, to teaching mothers in slums in Uganda valuable skills so they can earn an income and provide for their families, the money raised will make a real difference.

Commenting on the amount of money raised over the last six months, Zonal’s chief executive Stuart McLean said: “It’s phenomenal that we have already reached such a huge figure. Our employees have been so creative in coming up with fun ways to raise money for this worthwhile cause and it’s been a fantastic team effort.”

Employees Craig Hamill and Emma Smith ran the London Marathon. A Zonal team has signed up for the Kilimanjaro ascent and staff, from offices throughout the UK, are in the process of cycling over 5,000 miles, the distance from Edinburgh to Chetna in India where some of the street children who will benefit from their fundraising live.

Other creative events include bake sales, charity golf days, a quiz night and Kayleigh Logan from Head Office dyed her hair bright pink after a vote on the colour. The intrepid team also has plans to do the Three Peaks Challenge and a daredevil Sky Dive later this year.

Ed Fletcher, business development manager at Hope for Children said: “We’re so impressed with the investment that Zonal has made in our charity. They’ve put their money where their mouth is and come up with some fantastic fundraising ideas that are going to make a real and sustainable difference to children’s lives.”
