Chip & PIN Solutions partners with Sharp to launch Europe’s first ever fully integrated Cash Register

A revolutionary new technology product that is set to radically change the point of sale market for licensed hospitality and retail businesses is being launched this week.

Chip & PIN Solutions, the UK’s leading provider of card payment solutions, has become an exclusive partner to electronics giant Sharp, and together they have created the first ever mid-range Electronic Cash Register with a fully integrated Chip and PIN payment solution.

The product, available in two versions, known as Sharp ERA421 and ERA411, provides a one-stop-shop cash register and payment solution for businesses.  It has been designed with the licensed hospitality and small and medium sized retailers in mind. The cash register marries the 30 years of electronics innovation and know-how of Sharp with Chip & PIN Solutions’ 10 years experience of industry leading card payment systems.

Ideal for retail and hospitality businesses, the revolutionary integrated Chip & PIN cash register automatically feeds data through to the Chip and PIN card payment device and vice versa, making the transaction both fast and accurate. The two versions utilise the same technology and can offer the business user the flexibility of a portable card terminal for easy use behind a bar or till point. ERA421 features a pre-programmed splash and dust resistant flat keyboard favoured by bars and restaurants, whilst ERA411 has a traditional key button facia.

“The launch of this new integrated cash register will have a huge impact on small to medium sized businesses, and in particular, those in the retail and hospitality sector”, said David Maisey, Chip & PIN Solutions’ Managing Director. “The demand for the product is there but until now integrated Chip and PIN terminals have only been available for large businesses with sophisticated EPOS systems such as large restaurant chains and supermarkets.”

A hefty price tag, combined with overly complex functionality of existing EPOS products have excluded small and medium sized businesses from benefiting before now.  The new product offers business users numerous benefits over existing solutions.  In addition, to a comprehensive menu of functions, which include a fully customisable keyboard, an advanced table management system for tracking orders and promotional features to help with upselling, the integration of the card payment into the cash register eliminates the risk of server error; a huge advantage particularly during busy service periods.

Based on Sharp’s existing market-leading cash register products, the new integrated system is robust, versatile and affordable; and is available through www.chipandpinsolutions.co.uk or via any Sharp registered dealerships www.sharp.co.uk. This exciting solution is an exclusive partnership between Sharp and Chip & PIN Solutions.

Commenting on the partnership with Sharp, David Maisey added, “We are very pleased to announce our exclusive partnership with Sharp. Our focus for 2015 is all about growth and expanding our product offering to the retail and hospitality sectors. Combined with Sharp’s renowned reputation for producing high quality Electronic Point Of Sale equipment for over 30 years and 10 years of our extensive card payment knowledge, customers can expect a high quality and first of its kind product.”

Paul Leach, Sales Director at Sharp, said, “We are delighted to be embarking on this co-operation with Chip & PIN Solutions.  Sharp’s long expertise in developing innovative Cash Registers and EPOS solutions fits well with Chip & PIN solutions’ expertise and know-how of implementing payment solutions to a number of blue-chip customers.  We see great market potential for an entry level cash register with integrated Chip & PIN, as it offers so many benefits for our customers, including speed of service and helping to eliminate operator error.”

Existing Chip & PIN Solutions’ clients from the hospitality industry have welcomed news of the partnership with Sharp Electronics (UK) Limited to create this solution. Peter Ducker, chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality, said, “Chip & PIN Solutions are valued business partners of the Institute of Hospitality and we enjoy a close and fulfilling working relationship. Chip & PIN Solutions are experts in the rapidly changing area of payment technology, which has a direct impact on our members. Managing director David Maisey and his team provide us with bespoke research and expert advice relating to the payment industry and it is always a pleasure to work with David and his team.”
