Carnaby Street Eat – free Food Festival on 20 July

Carnaby Street Eat, an international, free Food Festival will run from 11am to 6pm on Sunday 20 July and will feature:

  •   30 of the area’s best restaurants, bars and cafés bringing their dishes and concepts out onto the streets of Carnaby
  •  £5 taster dishes and on-the-day offers
  •  Over 15 global cuisines
  •  A series of expert cooking demos, led by presenter and foodie Hardeep Singh Kohli
  •   Live music and entertainment

For one day only, we’re inviting Londoners to come along and sample specially prepared dishes and drinks from over 25 of the city’s best bars, restaurants and cafés, enjoy live music, demos and soak up the famous Carnaby atmosphere.”

International Cuisines

From Hawaiian to Indian, Italian, Japanese and pan Asian, there will be the chance to experience the sights, smells and flavours of over 15 international cuisines.

Highlights on Kingly Street will include hirata buns and gyoza from Shoryu Carnaby’s traditional yatai style street food stand, and Wright Brothers Soho serving up Prosecco with smoked salmon, capers and chopped egg on toast or oysters.

SACRED Café will be celebrating their New Zealand heritage with mini pies and ANZAC cookies; Hawaiian grill Kua ’Aina will be serving their ‘sun in a bun’ burgers and sandwiches from their mobile ‘beach shack’ and check out the Pizza Pilgrims’ Margherita Bar, serving up authentic Margheritas with a selection of homemade flavoured oils as well as fresh rocket and basil.

Masala Zone will be offering street food starters and Masala pot mains and at The Rum Kitchen Carnaby’s stall you can sample delights including roast pumpkin and chickpea curry, saltash fritter and jerk chicken wings. Round it off with a filter coffee from Speakeasy Espresso and Brew Bar and watch the baristas at work.

On Ganton Street, Cha Cha Moon will be serving their signature Singapore noodles and The Diner will have the Sweet Home Burger on offer –  a classic 100% USDA 5 oz cheeseburger, soft potato roll, pickle, bacon and French’s.

Head to the Newburgh Quarter for a traditional French tartine from wine bar Antidote and Carnaby Burger Co. will be giving away free canapés and will be running a raffle with prizes including a burger a day, for a month!

Additionally, there will be special offers and activity from Rosa’s Thai, Dehesa, Leon and Zebrano.

Best of British

The Urban Tea Rooms will be putting on a spread of perennial summer favourites including Pimms, tea cocktails and a selection of sandwiches and quiches; try a pulled chicken bap and craft beer from concept restaurant Whyte & Brown or indulge in a scone with iced tea from Camellia’s Tea House. Shampers wine bar and restaurant have developed a special menu – available to eat in, or takeaway.

Sweet Treats

Choccywoccydoodah will be giving out free chocolate samples and a Kiss FM DJ will be spinning the decks, or head to the iconic Johnny Cupcakes store where you’ll find the Crumbs and Doilies market stall, selling a selection of cupcakes and copies of The Cake Book by Cupcake Jemma.

Brand new American diner Stax will be showcasing their Duffin Sundaes, speciality ice creams and ice cream floats and espresso bar Mozzino will be teaming up with Katia Kitchen, who bakes authentic, artisan Italian recipes from her home town of Piedmont.

Healthy Options

There will be plenty of healthy options from healthy deli The Detox Kitchen who will be serving wheatgrass shots and their best selling salads and Retreat cafe. And proper Greek food from The Life Goddess, whilst real fruit and smoothie café Moosh will be offering tasters and special offers in store.

Entertainment

Kingly Court is the West End’s newest dining destination with new food concepts and al-fresco dining.  Here, presenter, foodie and one-time Celebrity Masterchef winner Hardeep Singh Kohli will take the main stage, cooking up some of his favourite dishes and inviting some of the area’s most well known restaurateurs and chefs to join him.

Throughout Carnaby, watch out for the roller skating Disco honeys and the Cirque le Soir performers; enjoy live music and watch a demo of detoxifying yoga poses from triyoga or just chill out on the deckchairs. Stop by Lomography who will be running fish-eye camera workshops – no excuses for not securing the perfect foodie snap!

For the Kids

Babywear store Carry Me Home will be offering 20% off bibs for the day and ZSL London Zoo’s pop up shop will be offering face painting, so that even the littlest visitors can get involved with the festival.
