Treetop Adventure Golf swings into Gateshead’s Metrocentre

• Treetop Adventure Golf will take 17 500 sq ft at Metrocentre, Gateshead

• The leisure operator will be investing over £2.5m to bring their extraordinary mini golf experience to life

Treetop Adventure Golf, is delighted to be opening its fifth UK destination at Metrocentre, Gateshead.

The immersive play operator has signed a new 25-year lease for 17,500 sq ft and is due to open Summer 2023. Treetop will be bringing their extraordinary two indoor 18-hole mini golf courses to the shopping centre, as well as their Bonus 19th hole – offering all players the chance to win a free round.

After dodging ancient spirits and discovering wondrous wildlife on the mini golf tours, explorers are invited to take a seat in The Market and enjoy tropical cocktails and mocktails from The Thirsty Toucan bar or grab cracking coffee from the Jungle Buzz Café – both featuring a host of local suppliers.

Committing to investing over £2.5 million and creating more than 20 jobs locally, this is an exciting addition for Metrocentre and Gateshead. Since opening at St David’s, Cardiff, Treetop has added destinations at Printworks in Manchester, Highcross in Leicester and, most recently, at Birmingham’s Bullring & Grand Central. With even more sites in the pipeline, this is an exciting time for the expanding operator.

Elizabeth Stanway, CEO and Co-Founder of Treetop Adventure Golf commented: “We’re really excited to bring our extraordinary and immersive world to life at the Metrocentre.

“We believe everyone should have access to wonder and play in their lives.  Everyone’s welcome at Treetop –  we create joyful places, that bring people together and where everyone can be themselves. We can’t wait for our guests to start making treasured memories together at the Metrocentre.”

Stanway added: “Metrocentre is a landmark location, and we’re looking forward to working with the Sovereign Centros team to bring a unique experience for the centre visitors and to being part of the fantastic offering.”

Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, Senior Asset Manager for Metrocentre, said: “We are excited to welcome Treetop Adventure Golf to Metrocentre later this year.  Their substantial investment into the site will offer our visitors a completely new and immersive mini golf experience, which will appeal to a broad range of ages.  The mix of leisure, dining and retail is a key component to the success of Metrocentre so it’s important that we continue to invest and refresh our offer.
