GOODFELLOW GIVES BACK TO INDUSTRIAL SECTOR AS ‘THANK YOU’ FOR COVID CO-OPERATION

After months of the science and industrial community uniting to support the Coronavirus response, leading research materials supplier Goodfellow is showing its gratitude.

In recognition of companies producing personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers throughout the pandemic – including Royal Mint and Brammer – and the mutual support shown within the industry, Goodfellow is cutting its materials prices* by 20% for the annual Black Friday sale in November.

Joel Aleixo, Global Marketing Manager at Goodfellow, said: “This is a ‘thank you’ to everyone in materials science who has continued to work through the pandemic and make a difference during these uncertain times.

“As well as playing a vital role in the national response to Coronavirus, companies in our sector have shown ongoing loyalty to each other – something we’ve experienced directly through our own customers. In difficult circumstances, these relationships help to sustain each other’s businesses and have allowed us to play our part in the pandemic too.”

Goodfellow has supported various initiatives from early on in the first national lockdown period, including donations of coil to Stamford School, Lincolnshire, where teachers were making 1,000 protective masks per day for the NHS using a laser cutting technique.

Along with providing other materials donations to Royal Mint and Brammer, Goodfellow also supported plastics machining and fabrication company, TJ Morgan, and aerospace engine business, Safran Aero Boosters, in their production of PPE.

Goodfellow even supplied PET plastic to a Los Angeles street artist and former engineer, Plastic Jesus, who transformed his studio to make face shields for doctors and nurses working with critically ill patients.

In addition, the company has provided high-quality platinum/iridium wires and technical advice to Hummingbird Sensing Technology’s rapid development production programme for gas sensors in response to high demand for use in critical care ventilators.

*20% discount is available for one week from 27TH November 2020 on all research materials in the Goodfellow catalogue – including metals, alloys, ceramics, polymers, composites and compounds – but excluding precious metals.
