Following a multi-million pound extensive renovation and rebrand, DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands Riverside re-opens in Rotherhithe. The Interior

ICA Design has transformed the interiors, centred on a colour palette of dusty greys, stormy blues and crisp white with subtle pops of cerulean and sunshine yellow. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows flood the reception area in light and look out onto the Thames. Both the maritime and industrial aspects of the area are celebrated in the décor. A large vintage, sepia-toned shipping map is a centrepiece on the reception ceiling whilst bedroom features include barrel chandeliers, compass detailing and carriage-style coffee tables. Timber, metal, brass and gold feature prominently throughout whilst furnishings include buttery soft leather couches and Nordic style chairs.

The Bedrooms

Each guestroom is designed for business and leisure. From the balcony, a stunning view is offered of either the wider London skyline with all the notable landmarks or Canary Wharf and the Thames.

Key features include floating-style beds, HD TVs, nautical artwork, exposed brick walls and floor-to-ceiling silk curtains.All have a large working desk, ergonomic seating, laptop-sized safe, tea and coffee facilities and complimentary WiFi. En-suite bathrooms are a mix of wood and marble with luxury toiletries, made with essential oils and all-natural ingredients, from London-based brand Aroma Actives. Committed to showcasing some of the finest artistic talents from across the globe, the hotel has worked with both international artists and local creatives to curate a dazzling display of art and contemporary sculpture throughout the hotel, including work from the likes of Sam Shendi, Patricia Volk and Patrick Colhoun.

 Columbia

Located within Grade I-listed Columbia Wharf, the Columbia restaurant is open for hearty breakfasts through to indulgent dinners and everything in between. Executive Chef Vernon Strachan offers a seasonal modern British menu punctuated with international influences including signature dishes of lamb cutlets; 28 day dry-aged steak (sirloin, rib-eye and fillet); and grilled halloumi with preserved lemons and roasted vegetables. Sharing platters, salads and burgers are also available, as well as a bar menu of smaller plates. Private dining options include The Captain’s Table in the centre of the dining room and The Library, which can accommodate up to 30 guests. For a truly memorable occasion, the hotel can also cater bespoke lunch packages for privately hired boats.

Terrace

The riverside terrace offers stunning views of the city, a dedicated bar and DIY BBQ menu, providing the perfect spot for al-fresco drinking and dining. Covered, heated and decked with cushion-strewn couches and blankets, it’s the perfect outside space come rain or shine. A dedicated cigar terrace also offers the ideal space to enjoy a Cuban or two with a drink in-hand whilst enjoying the impressive vista.
