DOUBLE AWARD FOR GORDON CASTLE GIN

Moray based Gordon Castle is toasting success after scooping two prestigious accolades for its Gordon Castle Gin.

A highly sought-after gold medal was awarded at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the largest and most influential international spirits competition in the world. Beating off tough competition from thousands of entries, Gordon Castle Gin impressed the judges with its notes of lavender and mint from the Walled Garden and its crisp taste.

The second medal, a silver, has been awarded by the World Gin Awards, part of the prestigious World Drinks Awards programme. Again, a highly respected panel of drink experts assessed hundreds of gins in a blind tasting, evaluating each for balance, character, complexity, quality and functionality.

The esteemed judges commended Gordon Castle Gin for its juniper and citrus nose, depth of flavour and its smooth and well-rounded finish.

These two awards come hot on the heels of another major success for the brand; last month Gordon Castle Gin was crowned ‘Gin of the Month’ at Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.

Launched in 2014, Gordon Castle Gin is created using the finest botanicals grown in the magnificent Walled Garden of the family-owned estate in Fochabers, Moray.

Commenting on the awards, Angus Gordon Lennox, owner of Gordon Castle, said:

“We are thrilled that Gordon Castle Gin sits shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best spirits. It has always been our passion that when recreating the Walled Garden, we would create stunning products worthy of its beauty. The Gordon Castle product range contains extracts from plants grown in the Garden and the care and attention that our gardeners place in caring for the plants is matched only by the skill at which the Gordon Castle products are produced.”

Gordon Castle Gin is distributed by another Scottish family-owned business, Gordon & MacPhail, and is rapidly finding its niche in the premium gin market, which has grown by almost 50% over the past two years according to figures published by CGA and Neilson.

Stephen Rankin, Director of UK Sales for Gordon & MacPhail added: “Gordon Castle Gin has achieved significant success in its first year and we look forward to capitalizing on its recent award wins.”
