The Independent Hotel Show 2014is delighted to welcome respected writer and feared restaurant critic AA Gill for a morning’s breakfast round table discussion, led by management consultant, author and broadcaster, Peter York. Taking place at Olympia West on October 21 and 22, the Independent Hotel Show is a two-day event targeted at independently minded hoteliers eager to build and grow their businesses. The breakfast with AA Gill is scheduled for Wednesday 22 October, 8.30am to 10am, and will examine what luxury means to the modern consumer and how this impacts on the positioning of today’s independent and boutique hotels.

Never one to mince his words and renowned for pushing the boundaries of editorial etiquette, AA Gill has been a journalist and food critic for over 20 years. Gill is best known for his no holds barred approach to restaurants reviews, spurring regale, relief or rigamortis amongst chefs and hoteliers across the UK. Sunday Times Style magazine restaurant reviewer, TV critic and travel writer, he is well known for his wit and satirical descriptions, as well as disgruntling a few high profile celebrity chefs, regions and nations along the way.

Whilst his food reviews may often scald chefs worldwide, his comment on style and service seem to be never faltering. A firm believer in welcoming hospitality he has often been seen to stand up for the nations waiting staff, condemning restaurateurs for syphoning off service charges for themselves, or serving dishes that could not be covered by their staffs minimum wage.

Gill will be joined by high society, cultural commentator Peter York. Co-author of Harpers & Queen’s ‘The Official Sloane Ranger Handbook’, and previous Style Editor at Harpers & Queen, York has been circulating within the echelons of high society for many years and is no stranger to luxury and lavishness.

Commenting on the breakfast round table discussion and what it will bring to the Independent Hotel Show, Luke Perry, Event Director says;

“We are honoured to have two such distinguished guests at the show and are sure they will bring much to the table in regard of any discussion on luxury. Both are well travelled and well heeled, have stayed in some of the best hotels around the globe and eaten in some of the finest restaurants. With a finger on the pulse knowledge and insight of today’s hotel and dining scene, their comments along with the industry peers also attending the event will I’m sure prove invaluable to those independent hoteliers looking to stay ahead of the trends and boost their business.”

The breakfast round table is open to 100 invited guests. For your chance to attend the event and hear first-hand comments about the hospitality industry email [email protected] Places will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
