The Beverage Standards Association (BSA) supports Independents’ Day on 4 July and encourages its members to get involved

The Beverage Standards Association (BSA) is supporting Independents’ Day on 4 July and encouraging its members to get involved. Independents’ Day, organised by the National Skills Academy for Retail, now in its fourth year, is a national awareness campaign aiming to promote and celebrate independent businesses across the UK.

Martyn Herriott, executive director, BSA, says “On behalf of all our members, we are pleased to support this initiative which aims to promote local independent businesses and drive consumers to buy locally. We feel our members can engage with this awareness day which will help to boost their business.”

Independent businesses are being encouraged to embrace the campaign and hold special promotions and offers for customers to attract them into their outlets.

Roberta Gandolfo from the National Skills Academy for Retail, organisers of Independents’ Day, says “We are delighted the BSA is supporting our campaign – in total 14 trade associations are supporting us. Independents’ Day is a great opportunity to promote local businesses. In the last two years many retailers, towns and markets have really got creative – setting up special events, decorating buses and even dressing up in American themed outfits on the day. We encourage retailers to start planning events in their town and join forces with other retailers to make the most of this initiative. For example, in Horsham, Sussex, retailers are coming together to create events and promotions to excite and engage customers to remind them about the ‘hidden gems’ on their doorstep.”

In the run up to 4th July, retailers can download the campaign posters and other material and get further information from the web site –  www.indieday.com; Twitter @IndieDayUK #IndieDay
