“January has long been one of the most challenging months for the hospitality industry, with reduced trading placing significant financial pressure on both operators and their teams. Against this backdrop, the news that the government is expected to climbdown on proposed business rates increases for pubs in England could not be more timely for many struggling venues.
This is a welcome step for us at Springboard, and for the industry as a whole. However, we would also urge the government to consider extending similar support across the wider hospitality sector, including hotels and restaurants. From our work with businesses across the UK, we know that continued backing is essential to protect jobs, support skills development and sustain a workforce that underpins the UK economy.”
