Industry heavyweights Lello Favuzzi and Jessica Monetti join Roberto Costa’s flourishing Macellaio restaurant Group 

June 2022: Following the opening of its sixth, flagship site in Soho, founder of restaurant group Macellaio RC, Roberto Costa, is delighted to announce the appointment of Lello Favuzzi as the new Executive Head Chef, as well as Jessica Monetti as the new Head of Operations. A superstar duo, with a wealth of experience who are taking on a group wide role to further grow and cement Macellaio as one of London’s most loved family of restaurants. With authenticity and a true Italian ethos of ingredients at the core. 

Best known for their Fassona steak which is sourced from the mountain valleys north of Genoa, Macellaio RC promises London diners’incredible Italian food, sourced with respect, prepared with love and expertly cooked.  

Lello Favuzzi: Executive Head Chef  

The newly appointed Executive Head Chef, Lello Favuzzi (previously The Wolseley, Alan Yau’s Anda, Franco’s on Jermyn Street, Cervo in Sardinia, l’Anima and l’Anima café and Mortimer House) learnt to cook in his parents’ kitchen. Preparing and creating food for the whole family  was an important part of everyday life and he would regularly help his grandmother make fresh, home-made focaccia, pasta, amongst other traditional Italian dishes.  

Lello was born in Sassari, Sardinia and grew up there with his Sicilian mother and Puglian father., After attending catering college he worked for two seasons at the five-star hotel, Cervo in Sardinia but didn’t start his culinary journey here in London until 2003. It was then when he began working as a Sous Chef at restauranteur Alan Yau’s Anda in Marylebone. Following this, he worked at Franco’s on Jermyn Street, The Wolseley, Corbin & King St Alban, L’Anima and most recently, Mortimer House Kitchen in the heart of London’s Fitzrovia. 

In 2020 he took part in Celebrity MasterChef where he hosted Amar Latif, in his kitchen at Mortimer House, and most recently has featured in the Channel 4 programme “Taste of Italy” with celebrity restaurateur Nisha Katona in Sicily. 

Having spent 10 years running one of London’s most celebrated Italian restaurants, Lello joins Roberto Costa to recreate simple and irresistible Italian plates, bringing a vibrant and joyful Mediterranean menu to the sophisticated neighbourhood restaurant and bar.  

Jessica Monetti: Head of Operations   

Originally from Venice, Italy, Jessica has lived in London for over two decades. After working in the Fashion Industry for over nine years, in May 2001 she started her career in hospitality.   

Fiercely passionate about food and wine, she has held a few different gigs, before starting as an Assistant Manager at Goodman Mayfair in 2009. Later, she was appointed General Manager at their Canary Wharf branch, following Dave Strauss’s footsteps where she went on to be promoted to Operations Manager in 2017. 

After that, she was fortunate enough to collaborate with some other greats of the industry and in October 2019 she joined Flat Iron as Area Manager and worked with Charlie Carroll, Jo Fleet, and Tom Byng until April 2022. Afterward, she met Roberto Costa and decided to begin a new journey as Head of Operations for RC Group, following once again her passion for exciting new challenges.  

With Roberto, Lello and Jessica mark the start of an exciting change to the Macellaio group, with more news to be announced soon. 

Located in the heart of the West End, Macellaio’s Soho site is its newest addition to the growing family of restaurants, and its flagship. Evoking a glamourous Italian style feel, with white table clothes, wooden panelling, and marble tabletops, the space is centred around an impressive display of aged meat which sits as a focal point in the middle of the restaurant. Macellaio Soho is the perfect location for a romantic meal or a special occasion, whilst overlooking the hustle and bustle of London passing by.  

Each site will be offering corkage free lunches in all locations running until the end of August, where diners can choose their favourite wines to pair with Macellaio’s perfectly cooked steak.
