A dog kennel with a double-glazed window, an automatic door and a heated floor has been created by modular house-builder Built & Spaces.

The luxury £1,200 pooch parlour has a hinged copper roof for easy access and a steel frame for extra durability.

The kennel — which boasts 900mm by 660mm of internal floor space — was created in response to growing demand from animal-lovers who want to give their pet a home as nice as theirs.

Built & Spaces uses a component-led system that works around off-the-shelf parts and minimises waste during manufacture and construction.

The unique system used by Built & Spaces, based in Plymouth, Devon, reduces the amount of building required on-site, and can allow a garden room to be erected within two weeks of the design process beginning.

Interest in Built & Spaces’ extensions, garden rooms, home offices and annexes surged by 20% during lockdown as people working from home realised that they needed more space. Large numbers of inquiries came from parents trying to work while their children were off school because of coronavirus.

Steve Wilkie, Director of Built & Spaces, comments: “We’re more used to creating luxury homes for humans, but it was great fun creating this dog kennel for man’s best friend.

“The kennel has all the mod-cons a pampered pooch could expect, with an automatic door, heated floor and double glazing.

“A lot of our customers have spent lockdown doing up their house, and now they want to treat their pets. Being in the doghouse has never been so comfortable.”
