Customer service star named employee of the year at Tylney Hall Hotel

Hampshire hotel Tylney Hall Hotel & Gardens has named receptionist Saskia Ridout employee of the year at its annual staff awards.

Saskia, who has been working at the four-star country house hotel for just over a year, was named the winner of the top award for her exceptional customer service and the warm welcome she offers every guest.

Sam Aziz, general manager of Tylney Hall, said: “I am delighted to announce Saskia as the winner of this year’s employee of the year award. The feedback I have received about Saskia from her colleagues and from guests is outstanding – in her role on reception Saskia is often the first face guests see, and she’s always sparking from the start of her shift right until the end.

“Saskia really is a customer service superstar, you could film her interactions with guests and use it as the perfect example for customer service training. She is friendly, helpful, supportive of others and always focussed and looking to learn more. Saskia has a fantastic career in hospitality ahead of her and she is a true asset to the Tylney Hall team.”

The award was presented to Saskia in January at the hotel’s staff Christmas party. Speaking after receiving the award, Saskia said: “I feel unbelievably honoured and so proud to be named employee of the year, I can’t believe it. I’m over the moon to receive this award! I love interacting and meeting all of the guests at Tylney Hall; I enjoy chatting with them throughout their stay and trying to find ways to enhance their current or future visits. Some of the guests also have amazing memories of Tylney Hall and it’s so lovely to hear their stories.

“I love working in hospitality and hope to continue on my career path in guest relations. I would also be keen to try working in events as I think my skills would be well-suited to the client relationships – one of the most important things in this job is to always stay positive and keep calm, remaining upbeat and focused so that every guest has the best possible experience.”

Several other members of staff were recognised for their contributions at the Tylney Hall staff awards, including:

  • Guest Champions – Peter Komaromi, Margareta Teodorescu, Alejandro Garcia
  • Going the Extra Mile – Devendra Thapa
  • Apprentice of the Year – Jo James
  • Newcomer of the Year – Maddie Bailey
