Maxxium UK is introducing four luxury limited edition Courvoisier expressions exclusively available in UK luxury retailers just in time for Christmas, including Courvoisier Réserve 1978, Courvoisier Heritage De Louis Renard, Courvoisier Tribute Borderies and L’Esprit de Joséphine.

This collection of exquisite cognacs has been carefully crafted by Courvoisier Master Blender Patrice Pinet and encompasses the skill and expertise of the master blenders who preceded him.

Each of Courvoisier’s six master blenders (from the 19th to the 21st century) have worked to ensure the perfection of the cognacs and also to prepare the future reserves required by their successors. Deep beneath the Courvoisier Château lies the centuries-old secret Paradis cellar, home to a collection of the rarest and most treasured cognacs, which Pinet has selected from.

Together, the cognacs tell the story of Courvoisier through the ages, from the Golden Age of Paris where its story began, to the Paradis, inviting consumers to enjoy a truly unique tasting and aromatic experience.

Courvoisier Réserve 1978 | 10 bottles | RSP £1,100

Jean-Marc Olivier, Courvoisier’s previous master blender, detected the exceptional quality of this vintage and decided to select it for a privileged ageing, allowing Patrice to select Réserve 1978 as one of the luxury limited editions launching this Christmas. After aging for 35 years in Courvoisier’s Paradis cellar, this vintage has reached its full aromatic potential. To celebrate the authenticity of this cognac and entice connoisseurs and cognac lovers, Patrice has chosen a vintage Courvoisier bottle that dates to the beginning of the 20th century.

Courvoisier Heritage De Louis Renard | 50 bottles | RSP £7,5001

Courvoisier Heritage De Louis Renard is blended from exceptionally rare Paradis cellar cognacs dating from 1869 to 1914, which were matured by Louis Renard, Courvoisier’s first master blender of the 20th century. These cognacs were distilled during the Paris Golden Age when artistic giants including Matisse and Proust were redefining the concept of a masterpiece. To bring the Paris Golden Age to life in aroma, taste and spirit and reflect upon a time of exuberance and optimism, Patrice has hand-selected these ancient cognacs and blended them around the 1893 vintage for balance, richness and depth. Only 50 Baccarat crystal decanters will be filled with this cognac.

L’Esprit de Joséphine | 8 bottles | RSP £9,715

A tribute to the first French Empress, Joséphine de Beauharnais, L’Esprit de Joséphine is an exquisite blend of rare aged cognacs, some dating back to the beginning of the 20th century and others from the 19th century, which were used to supply the court of Napoleon III, grandson and admirer of Joséphine. Patrice has blended this expression to pay homage to her and her famed rose garden by developing a cognac with fine floral fragrances enriched with a batch of old Borderies. This cognac is limited to 8 Lalique decanters, each engraved with a ‘J’ to represent the timeless elegance of Joséphine.

Courvoisier Tribute Borderies | 5 Dame-Jeannes | RSP £51,6001

Patrice has selected Courvoisier Tribute Borderies to be the latest addition to the Paradis cellar. This expression is a celebration of generations of craftsmanship from the single-estate grapes to the hand-blown dame-jeannes they are bottled in.

Consumers will have the rare opportunity to purchase one of these dame-jeannes, which will then be fulfilled into 43 bespoke 70cl bottles. Each bottle can be personalised, allowing this extremely unique liquid to be given as a special gift.

In addition, the owners of this cognac will receive an immersion into the brand including a stay at the Couvoisier chateau in Jarnac, a visit to the Paradis cellar and an exclusive dinner with Patrice followed by a guided tasting of Tribute Borderies.

Courvoisier Tribute Borderies is blended from the eaux-de-vie of just one Borderies estate. The smallest of the six crus, the Borderies region is ideal for growing Ugni Blanc grapes and this cognac honours a family of remarkable winemakers who have worked with Courvoisier for generations.

The cognac has been left to mature in fine French Limousin oak casks since the early 1960s and after spending up to 50 years in fine oak, it has reached an aromatic perfection detected by Patrice and protected at the height of its maturity by being transferred by hand into dame-jeannes in 2009. There are only five dame-jeannes of this exquisite cognac in the Paradis cellar, each bottled at 46.5% ABV.

Maxxium UK’s Marketing Controller for Luxury Brands, Chris Anderson says: “This is a remarkable time for Courvoisier. These new expressions strongly reinforce Courvoisier’s No. 1 position in the UK marketplace as a luxury brand that is at the forefront of innovation.
