Live Like a Local This Summer at The Laslett – West London’s Neighbourhood Gem in Notting Hill

If you’re planning an escape this summer, look no further than the cosmopolitan capital. The Laslett’s Live Like a Local programme combines the very best of this eclectic hotel with thoughtfully chosen activities in the lively heart of West London.

Socially and culturally immersive, Live Like a Local is a curated Notting Hill programme that includes private meets with the local heroes – some of the capital’s most renowned names in music, fashion and art – and the chance to experience weekly hotel events such as Turntable Tuesdays and Oyster evenings, further enabling guests to feel at home as well as part of the community.

The Laslett is a true rarity in West London. Enviably located in Notting Hill, with Portobello Road Market a short walk away; the hotel is perfectly placed to tap into the local scene. A recent resurgence has made Notting Hill a destination once more, with a flurry of new openings, drawing the creative crowd from East to West.

Enticing city hoppers keen to explore the local West London culture, highlights from the Live Like a Local programme include; a meet with Jerome Dodd, West London’s favourite eclectic antiques curator, where guests can purvey his extraordinary curios, in his cult shop Les Couilles du Chien on Portobello Road; private shopping and bespoke fitting appointment at Bodas, the heritage Notting Hill swimwear and underwear brand on Ledbury Road; and turntable Tuesday sessions in the hotel with surprise local music legends.

Visitors can also enjoy touring the neighbourhood’s hidden gems with the new Notting Hill A Walking Guide, written by Julian Mash, author of ‘Portobello Road: Lives of a Neighbourhood’ (2015), before an evening of cocktails on the terrace or in The Henderson Bar, followed by a popular London show at the Print Room theatre.

The Laslett is the latest concept by Living Rooms that opened its doors in summer 2015. Named after Rhaune Laslett, a well loved Notting Hill community activist and organiser of the original Notting Hill Festival, the hotel takes inspiration from the area’s vibrant cultural heritage, while capturing its new wave of creative cool.

The 51 bedrooms are more home than hotel, with modern furniture from British designers alongside more personal quirks – well-chosen books for bedtime reading, proper blankets, curiosities from local antiques dealers, and curated photographs and artworks on the walls.

A honeypot for championing London’s creativity, The Laslett’s library lounge is stocked with British art and design books and a curated wall of art highlights new and emerging artists with a rotation of exhibitions throughout the year.

Double rooms from £220 per night (inclusive of VAT), based on double occupancy.
