Jane Peyton, celebrity drinks expert, author and founder of the School of Booze is to feature at a gourmet evening of food and fun at New Inn, Appletreewick on Thursday 25th September.
Jane, whose motto is Think While You Drink, was the UK’s first accredited Pommelier (cider sommelier) and Britain’s first Beer Sommelier of the Year. She is the instigator and driving force of the UK’s annual national beer day – Beer Day Britain (June 15th) and a former Imbibe Magazine Drinks Educator of the Year. For her beer work she was awarded the title Outstanding Individual Achievement in Beer from the Beer & Cider Marketing Awards, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Britain’s Parliamentary Beer Group.

While not too serious in tone, the gourmet evening at New Inn will showcase a unique 5 course menu from chef Mike Paylor who trained in Mayfair, curated with drink pairings from some of the UK’s most inventive producers. Promising to be both entertaining and educational, covering brewing history and interesting insights into the world of alcohol, Jane Peyton will introduce the drinks along with Chris Ives, owner of the New Inn and an award-winning brewer and distiller who founded the Ilkley Brewery and Otterbeck Distillery, of Cotton Gin fame. Chef Mike will describe the inspiration for each of his culinary creations, describing the dishes and the integrity of his approach to cooking focussing on using local, seasonal produce imaginatively.
The event is the first in a series planned to celebrate the best of Yorkshire fayre, with more planned at New Inn for next year including outdoor feasts inspired by la ferme auberge to celebrate the seasons.
