SHADES OF WINSTON CHURCHILL

The Churchill Bar & Terrace launches new cocktail menu inspired by Winston Churchill and classic British food pairings

Paying homage to the many aspects that made up the intriguing roles Winston Churchill played in his life, the award-winning The Churchill Bar & Terrace launches its new autumn/winter cocktail menu: Shades of Winston Churchill.

The new menu, led by talented Head Bartender Giacomo Guarnera and his team, features a repertoire of cocktails that are inspired by the different facets of Churchill and classic British food duos. The cocktail named after his heroic role leading the country, ‘Prime Minister’, is inspired by the iconic British flavour combination of egg and cress, and the curious cocktail ‘The Traveller’ is a unique twist on a food pairing loved by the nation – jacket potatoes and baked beans. For Winston’s famed penchant for painting, ‘The Artist’ cocktail delivers an innovative reinterpretation of the classic English breakfast tea and milk.

The autumn/winter cocktail menu, launching on November 14th, has been crafted with great ingenuity, adventure and imagination, with cocktail lovers treated to a captivating and sensory experience with each sip.

Guests will also have the chance to pair their cocktail with a dish that compliments the cocktail ingredients and infusions. Food pairing options are both savoury and sweet, including a peanut butter mousse and a spicy strawberry jelly, peas and carrots arancini with pea dust and egg bites with watercress emulsion.

Head Bartender, Giacomo Guarnera commented: “The new autumn/winter cocktail menu is our most ambitious to date, celebrating Winston Churchill’s life and some classic British dishes and ingredients that are loved by the nation such as strawberries and cream, apple and crumble, rhubarb and custard and scones and clotted cream. We hope that each sip triggers fond memories and associations whilst bringing out the best of the unusual ingredients and infusions included with the menu.

We have a cocktail on the menu to suit every discerning drinkers’ tastes, from the more experimental drinker to those looking for an indulgent warming winter cocktail.”

From November, The Churchill Bar & Terrace will also be introducing a new collaboration with prodigious young artist Zoom Rockman, famed for his sharp-witted satirical cartoons. Zoom’s series of newly commissioned eight artworks will be showcased in the bar’s outdoor terrace area depicting the private and public life of Sir Winston Churchill. Also adorning the outdoor luxury winter hideout space will be faux fur rugs, blankets and tasteful nods to Winston Churchill.

Tucked away behind buzzing Oxford Street and opposite the serene Portman Square Gardens, The Churchill Bar & Terrace at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill provides the perfect winter bolthole. The cocktail menu is available now at The Churchill Bar & Terrace and the drinks are priced from £16. Food pairing dishes start from £6.
