Marco Pierre White is to open a brand-new Chophouse restaurant and a Wheeler’s Fish & Chips Shop at the striking 4 star Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel & Spa. Set to open in summer 2018, both venues benefit from street access and sea views.
Mr. White’s English Chophouse Dover will be the third to open in the UK this year, closely after London and Manchester which opened in April and May respectively. The 85-cover restaurant will serve a range of fresh, high quality meat cuts alongside traditional home-grown classics such as Goats’ Cheese and Beetroot Salad, Roast Rump of Lamb and Fish Pie.
Wheeler’s Fish & Chips Shop showcases Marco’s take on the nation’s favourite seaside dish – fish and chips. The affordable menu will feature dishes including Moules Marinieres, Salt Cod Croquettes and Smoked Sardines on Toast with Fresh Tomato Salsa as starter options. Whilst Mains include Traditional Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas and Tartare Sauce and Wheeler’s Fish Cake with Young Spinach, Poached Egg and Tartare Sauce. The casual dining venue will pride itself on the authenticity and quality of ingredients sourced. The relaxed venue does not require bookings and diners can choose between take-away or sit-down service.
Commenting on the new venues Marco said: “What’s appealing about the Chophouse is its simplicity. The menu is very simple and the whole idea is to be generous with the portions. It’s hard to beat classic British food and that is exactly what the Chophouse centres on alongside a fine collection of wines, cocktails and beer.
“As for Wheeler’s Fish & Chips, I am working closely with Garry Rosser the owner of the award-winning Scallop Shell fish and chips shop in Bath to ensure we source the best quality fish available to deliver a very affordably priced menu.”
Mr K Rajaseelan, managing director at the Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel & Spa, said: “Our hotel has recently been refurbished throughout and the next part of our investment focuses on our food and beverage offer. Introducing Marco Pierre White’s concepts truly elevates what we do and we’re delighted to be bringing both Chophouse and Wheeler’s Fish and Chips Shop to the south coast.”
Nick Taplin, CEO of Black & White Hospitality, added: “Mr. White’s English Chophouse and Wheeler’s Fish & Chips brings the best of land and sea to the area. We have already had great success with our Chophouse concept and we know how popular it is with diners. We have been working on the Wheeler’s fish and chips concept for quite some time now and we’ve found the perfect location on the seafront of Dover. We’re confident both venues will become the place to go for local foodies and tourists alike.”
The 4-star hotel is a minute walk from the beach, and a short walk from the town centre, making it a popular venue with locals and seaside visitors. Nestled under the famous White Cliffs in the shadow of Dover Castle, with uninterrupted views out over the English Channel, the Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel & Spa offers 85 rooms, a Health Club and Spa, as well as meetings and weddings facilities.
