The first Big Hospitality Conversation of 2017 will be held at Anfield Stadium, the home of Liverpool Football Club on 14 February, organised by British Hospitality Association in a UK-wide partnership with Springboard and Department for Work and Pensions.
Liverpool Football Club’s newly expanded Main Stand, officially unveiled in September 2016 will be host to the day bringing together industry leaders, key businesses and jobseekers aged 18-24 years old. The Minister for Employment will also be attending the event.
Fall in love with hospitality with an immersive schedule of talks and activities including careers speed dating, talks from hospitality leaders and apprentices’ experiences as well as a hospitality careers exhibition attracting both local and national businesses.
The stadium’s expansion has seen the overall capacity at Anfield rise to around 54,000 with an impressive overhaul of the area including state-of-the-art fan concourses and hospitality facilities together with premium public spaces – creating a wide range of casual opportunities across the club’s matchday kitchen, retail, catering, safety, hospitality, tours and museum teams.
Liverpool Football Club makes a significant contribution to the local area in terms of opportunities for young people and the club’s recent recruitment drive has already generated over 1,000 matchday jobs.
To date over 4000 Executives and HR Directors have connected with young jobseekers across the UK to generate over 70,000 pledges.
Ufi Ibrahim, Chief Executive of the British Hospitality Association said:
“We are delighted to bring the Big Hospitality Conversation to Liverpool on February 14 at Liverpool Football Club, following the expansion of Anfield Stadium.
Liverpool Football Club has already generated a number of matchday opportunities for young people in the nearby area. It will be fantastic to showcase the success of these events which take place around the UK, to highlight the huge impact they have on young people’s lives.
Having apprentices speaking about their own experience and successful careers is a great way to inspire young people to join our exciting industry.
We thank BHA member Liverpool FC for their support in hosting Liverpool’s Big Hospitality Conversation.”
Andrew Parkinson, Operations Director, Liverpool Football Club, said: “We look forward to welcoming the Big Hospitality Conversation to Anfield. It’s sure to be a great event and we hope that the newly expanded Main Stand will provide an inspirational and memorable setting for all of those in attendance.”

This amazing initiative brings young people looking for work together with hospitality employers with vacancies, to provide careers advice, support into work experience, apprenticeships and worthwhile jobs. Anfield provides a fantastic venue to inspire young people about future careers in hospitality, and Springboard is here to help with specialist careers advice and guidance, quality work experience through our INSPIRE work experience programme, and support into employment with our range of IntoWork programmes. We are able to offer help with supported routes into the industry for everyone, regardless of age, gender or background. As one of the founding partners, we have seen the Big Hospitality Conversation bring tens of thousands of opportunities for young people and support employers in accessing enthusiastic potential recruits. We look forward to similar success in Liverpool on Valentine’s Day!”
