Limited Edition Ukiyo Cocktails to Launch at JIJI Islington

Islington hotspot JIJI is to launch a series of limited-edition cocktails with renowned Japanese gin brand Ukiyo to celebrate the opening of their summer terrace this May.

JIJI offers a blend of Middle Eastern and Japanese food created by restaurateur, Janina Wolkow, founder of the multi-award-winning contemporary Japanese restaurant Sumosan which now has outposts worldwide.

Launching in time for the opening of JIJI’s glorious sun-facing outdoor terrace, guests can kick back and enjoy the range of new hand-crafted Ukiyo cocktails in the sunshine along with food all summer long.

Born in Kagoshima in the shadow of the Sakurajima volcano, The Japanese Ukiyo spirit range features Ukiyo Gin, made from a base of traditional Japanese shōchū spirit and Ukiyo Rice Vodka which has been meticulously crafted from a traditional Japanese Awamori spirit, indigenous to the tropical island of Okinawa.

Each Ukiyo X JIJI cocktail has been created by JIJIs in-house mixologists to celebrate summer and complement JIJI’s Japanese and Middle Eastern flavours. If gin is your thing, enjoy the Yuzu 75 – a Japanese twist on a French 75, or opt for a refreshing Lychee and Blossom Martini. If vodka is more to your taste, try A Passion for JIJI. Using Ukiyo’s Rice Vodka, the cocktail combines passoa, peach liquor and peach and passionfruit juice with lime – a perfect fix for any Pornstar Martini lover.

Whilst sipping in the sunshine try a dish or two from JIJI’s new spring menu. Full of vibrant flavours, enjoy a succulent Chicken Kabob, zingy Wasabi Prawns, or crispy Vegetable Tempura.

To follow, try one of JIJI’s three new Bento Box flavours. Choose from fresh Black Cod or Grilled Prawn, both served with Salmon Avocado Sushi Rolls and Mini Fish Tacos, or the marinated Miso Tofu, served with Vegetarian Sushi Rolls and Mini Tacos. All Bento Boxes are additionally served with Seaweed Salad and Aubergine Chips.
