Going cashless set to save this pizzeria thousands

A few years ago it was common to find ‘cash only’ market stalls, coffee shops and florists. But, today, it’s a very different story.

Over the past couple of years there has been a flurry of small businesses that have decided to not only accept cards but to ditch cash all together, with this London based business saying doing so in their pizzeria is set to save them £1000 a year.

“Going cashless was a no-brainer,” says small business owner Bridget Callaghan.

“All of my businesses payments are processed in realtime through iZettle and we’ve projected this will save us £1000 a year in the time it takes staff time to count and bank cash.”

Bridget started Well Kneaded with her friend Bryony in 2011. The business started out serving sourdough pizza at markets in London and now consists of two mobile food trucks and a physical pizzeria, which opened in Earlsfield just four months ago.

Bridget says, “We started Well Kneaded to help young people from marginalised communities get on the work ladder and provide them with jobs.

“We’ve expanded at a steady rate and my husband now co-runs the business with us. All together we employ a team of nine.”

But as every small business owner knows, every little helps when it comes to growing your business.

“At the moment only our pizzeria is cashless but we’ve already noticed a difference, by redirecting our staff hours we’re spending less time on the admin and more time selling.”

The future doesn’t look sour for this dough business with figures showing that since opening their physical pizzeria in December the company’s turnover has already increased by 40%.
