Expanding pub, bar and rooms operator, Redcomb Pubs Ltd, run by Dan Shotton and Mark Draper, opens Double Barrel, a new whisk(e)y themed pop-up saloon bar, to further strengthen their central London portfolio.
Opening today (Wednesday 7th November), Double Barrel is located above one of the groups most successful London city pubs, The Theodore Bullfrog in Charing Cross, and has been created in collaboration with Diageo anchor spirit brands, Bulleit Bourbon, Johnnie Walker, Haig Club and Tanqueray.
Exuding bourbon-scented cool, with high-end whisk(e)ys on offer alongside barrel-aged, seasonal cocktails and some seriously dark spirited bar bites, Double Barrel’s decor centres on a backdrop of reclaimed barrels and timber cladding, a panelled bar teaming with bottle after bottle of whisk(e)y and an atmospheric, candlelit saloon.
The menu features a boozy yet refined range of cocktails, devised and delivered by Chris Edwards of cocktail consultancy, Salts of the Earth and recently opened Alphabet Bar in Upper Street, Islington.
Try a Barrel Aged BBQ Old Fashioned, infused with smoke, orange and jerky, a Folsom Prison Blues, with blueberry sherbet, bourbon and whites, or just work your way through the bar’s signature whisk(e)y guide. Match these to a selection of small plates and sides, such as slow-cooked pork shoulder tacos, Bulleit St Louis Ribs or Whisky Mac Cheese, and you’re in for a smokin’ night.
Catering for up to 75 seated or 100 standing guests, Double Barrel will also be available for private hire and celebrations, plus will play host to a calendar of whisk(e)y tasting and cocktail making masterclasses.
Commenting on the opening, Mark Draper, managing director at Redcomb Pubs Ltd says;
“Situated above The Theodore Bullfrog in Charing Cross, one of our most popular and frequented pubs in central London, Double Barrel offers a great opportunity to work the pub’s space harder and capitalise on the ever-expanding footfall in the area. It also offers us the opportunity to creatively stretch our offering and present something a little unique and engaging to this bustling area. With the festive season approaching, we’ve already seen a tremendous amount of interest in terms of hiring out the bar for private parties, plus the innovative menu and cocktail offering is well poised to attract a new audience to the site looking for something a little more experiential and fun.”
