HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM INDUSTRY LEADERS RECEIVE HONORARY AWARDS

Leading figures from the hospitality and tourism industries received honorary awards from the London School of Hospitality and Tourism, part of the University of West London (UWL), on Friday 13 March. An annual event, this year’s awards took place at the Park Plaza Riverbank London hotel.

Recognised for their outstanding contributions to their respective professions, honourees included Iqbal Wahhab OBE FRSA, businessman and restaurateur; Robyn Jones OBE, co-founder and chief executive of CH&Co catering company; Roland Fasel, regional director UK and general manager, The Dorchester; and Professor Peter Jones MBE, owner of Wentworth Jones Limited.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of the best performing students at the prestigious School. Prize-winners included students from Airline and Airport Management, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Event Management and Business Travel and Tourism.

University of West London Honorary, Iqbal Wahhab OBE said: ‘I have worked with the London School of Hospitality and Tourism for many years; they provide excellent training and develop industry leaders of tomorrow. Receiving this award is a great honour and I hope to continue my partnership with the School.’

The London School of Hospitality and Tourism 2015 Honorary Award recipients are:

  • Iqbal Wahhab OBE FRSA, businessman and restaurateur – awarded Doctor of Sciences (Hon DSc)
  • Robyn Jones OBE, co-founder and chief executive, CH&Co – awarded Doctor of Letters (Hon DLitt)
  • Roland Fasel, regional director UK and general manager, The Dorchester – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Elisabeth Barton-Grew, events and catering consultant – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Sally Beck, general manager, Lancaster London – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Stuart May, Chairman at Chester Grosvenor Hotel Company and Trustee at Savoy Educational Trust – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Alderman John Garbutt, Director at HSBC – awarded Visiting Professor
  • Brian Clivaz KFO, chief executive, The Arts Club – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Valentina Harris, chef – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Martyn Nail, executive chef, Claridge’s – awarded Master of Science (Hon MSc)
  • Sanjay Anand MBE, restaurateur and caterer – awarded Master of Science (Hon MSc)
  • Professor Peter Jones MBE, owner of Wentworth Jones Ltd. – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)
  • Stuart Littlejohn, chef – awarded Master of Business Administration (Hon MBA)

Professor David Foskett MBE, Dean of the London School of Hospitality and Tourism added:
