The Mayor of York marked the merit of the north’s latest culinary venture at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of The Cookery School at The Grand, York, now open for business.
Joined by Splendid Hospitality Group’s CEO, Stuart Bailey, The Grand, York’s General Manager, Philip Bolson and Make It York’s Managing Director, Sean Bullick, The Mayor took great pride in officialising The Cookery School’s status as the newest addition to York’s portfolio of corporate and leisure pursuits.
Following the much-anticipated opening, guests of all abilities are now invited to experience The Cookery School first-hand and deepen their gastronomic knowledge through the passion and creativity of Head Chef Tutor, Andrew Dixon and his ambitious team. Andrew’s highly adaptable style of teaching welcomes corporate parties, novices, aspiring chefs and even children over eight years old in bespoke family classes.
In his speech addressing the success of The Cookery School as part of the wider work that The Grand, York has accomplished, The Mayor said “It’s an important part of the city life to have such a brilliant establishment as The Grand in York. It’s been a great privilege to be invited to open this wonderful cookery school project for business.”
As part of an initiative to portray cookery creativity, the ceremony saw niche percussionist, Delia Stevens put innovation at the forefront of entertainment, stunning guests with remarkable rhythms, using only kitchen utensils as instruments.
Stuart Bailey, CEO of the Splendid Hospitality Group said “We are really proud to be launching this new product as part of a £20 million investment at The Grand over the past 18 months. It’s been great to have Head Chef Tutor, Andrew Dixon on board. It’ll be his passion that will come through and really bring these cookery classes to life. Congratulations to all of the team at The Grand.”
