How much does it cost to drink like James Bond?

(Equipment and glasses not included in the bundle.)

The next James Bond film, No Time To Die, is due to hit our screens on the 30th September, and while agent 007 is famous for his smooth talk and gadgets, he’s also famous for his beverage choices.

As well as the classic Vesper martini — served shaken, not stirred — Bond is also likely to order an Americano, a Negroni, an Old Fashioned, or another cocktail made with high-quality spirits and a mixer. In later films, he’s also appeared sipping Bollinger champagne, and even Heineken beer.

The origins of Bond’s liking for a tipple go right back to Ian Fleming’s original novels, which describe his favourite cocktails and spirits in detail. The first drink that 007 orders is an Americano, which he tells us is perfect for drinking outside a café with some sparkling water. Throughout Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die, Bond becomes partial to an Old Fashioned cocktail, made with a double shot of whisky.

How much would it cost to drink like Bond?

But the cost of all those drinks soon adds up. In fact, in order to get a sample of each beverage that Bond consumes throughout the films, you’ll need a cool £500.

In Skyfall, Bond sips on his most expensive drink, a Macallan whiskey, which would set you back £59.95. Then there’s the luxury vodka for the famous Vesper martini, which will cost you £49.95, and is the second most expensive spirit Bond consumes. And let’s not forget his favourite Bollinger champagne, which retails for around £45.95 a bottle.

If you want to go all-in to celebrate Bond’s return to the big screen, then why not recreate some of the superspy’s favourite cocktails at home? To help you do just that, premium spirit retailer House of Malt have put together a Bond-themed drinks bundle that 007 himself would envy.

Priced at £500, the bundle includes everything you’ll need to make all of Bond’s signature drinks — including a selection of spirits, liqueurs, wine, beer, and mixers — as well as cocktail-making equipment. There’s even a set of Bond-inspired recipe cards, so you can learn how to mix the perfect drink. Cheers!

Ben Turnbull, Director and Head Wine Buyer at House of Malt says:

“It’s always exciting when a new Bond film comes to our screens, and this time is no different, with No Time To Die being one of the most anticipated releases of 2021. So, what better way to celebrate than with a tipple worthy of 007 himself? The delicious cocktails that we see Bond drinking on-screen can be recreated at home.

“To get the Bond experience, you need to choose high-quality spirits, as investing in these ingredients will mean you have a drinks cabinet as distinguished as the secret agent himself.

“We’ve put together a bundle that will allow you to mix all of the drinks consumed in the Bond films, from the Old Fashioned to the Americano, and of course, the classic Vesper martini. You’ll also get recipe cards to show you how to mix each cocktail perfectly — and of course, remember to shake and never stir your Vesper.”
