Meetings can often be a painful experience; dry sandwiches and instant coffee whilst staring at a screen in a cold room. However, with Jurys Inn that can be a thing of the past.
In a bid to develop their meetings offering, hotel chain, Jurys Inn, have teamed up with wellness expert and founder of Calmer, Tania Diggory, to bring their corporate guests a programme which promises to improve meeting efficiency and attendee enjoyment levels.
The programme, entitled Meet Happy, includes 10 instantly actionable steps drawn from psychological and evidence-based research and can be implemented to any meeting, exclusively at Jurys Inn.
Steps include setting a timer (provided by Jurys Inn) to go off every 90 minutes prompting all attendees to take a break. And essential oil diffusers will be available emitting aromas proven to increase levels of calm and focus.
Jurys Inn will also provide blankets and plants to those who have selected the Meet Happy package.
“When you feel cold, you’re more likely to be distracted as your energy is focused on getting warm,” expert Tania says. “Providing blankets can be a great way to show your staff that you have considered their body temperature. In addition, studies have shown plants can reduce stress levels and even improve your concentration and productivity levels by up to 15%.”
Jurys Inn has collaborated with Calmer to support their business guests to embrace their meetings with a happy mind. “Work-related stress, depression and anxiety are the leading causes of illness and absence from work in the UK,” Tania points out. “A study by ACAS has revealed that in UK organisations, over 91 million working days are lost each year due to mental ill-health, and this costs businesses between £33bn and £44bn each year. It is a clear business case for investing in the health and wellbeing of all members of staff, improving their experience at work, and increasing overall productivity too.”
Meet Happy is the second instalment from the Jurys Inn Happiness Manifesto; a dedicated programme which aims to focus on their guests’ total happiness whilst in one of their 36 hotels across the UK and Ireland.
“We are thrilled to be working with Calmer to make this package available to our business guests’, says Jason Carruthers, MD of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland. “Jurys Inn offers over 364 stylish, well-located meeting and function rooms across 36 hotels in the UK and Ireland, so its important to us that organisers and delegates are getting the most out of their meetings. Our brand manifesto is ‘Stay Happy’ and we want this to be reflected in every aspect of our hotels, from the warm welcome, the bespoke DREAM beds, to the close-to-the-action locations and fast connections and now, our meeting packages.”
Meet Happy even includes a Spotify playlist to increase concentration as well as agenda and conclusion templates complete with self-care tips created by Tania.
“When it comes to creating a culture of wellness in the workplace and inspiring employees to deliver to the best of their ability, creating opportunities for staff to ‘Meet Happy’ can have a profoundly positive impact all round,” says Tania.
