Boutique and luxury hotels must provide a quality and extensive coffee offering if they wish to meet the high expectations of today’s discerning consumers, say coffee suppliers exhibiting at the Independent Hotel Show 2019.
According to a poll carried out by the show’s coffee partner, Jacobs Douwe Egberts, 57% of consumers say a quality coffee offering improves their perception of a hotel, proving it’s an important area that should not be overlooked.
Presenting guests with a variety of coffee styles to choose from and sourcing quality, sustainable, ethical coffee to make a consistently ‘delicious’ hot beverage are winning ways to wow them.
Charlea Samuel, category manager premium coffee, Jacobs Douwe Egberts, says: “It’s more important than ever for boutique and independent hoteliers to offer a range of hot beverages to meet current consumer trends that can be found in coffee shops. With four in five coffee drinkers wanting a personalised coffee drink, operators need a versatile base to produce a wide range of coffee styles; pairing well with dairy and milk alternatives and syrups to provide operators with one coffee blend for their menu.”
Giving guests the option to prepare themselves a quality cup of coffee in their room to start the day, as well at breakfast, is particularly important according to Cru Kafe, which will be showcasing its organic and Fairtrade coffee packaged in recyclable Nespresso compatible pods and single-serve coffee bags.
Katie Colvin of Cru Kafe says: “Someone’s coffee shouldn’t be an after-thought, it should set your guests up for the day. Whether that is a day exploring or a day working in a new place.
“Pretty much every hotel that is competing at a high level will have a Nespresso machine in the rooms, this allows for a convenient but also delicious coffee. We have also seen lots of hotels using our coffee bags, this means they only need to have a kettle but allows for a delicious filter style cup of coffee.”
Visitors to the Independent Hotel Show, presented by James Hallam Insurance Brokers, at Olympia London on 15 and 16 October will be provided with ample opportunities to find out about the latest coffee machine and product solutions as well as sample a reviving cup of coffee. Other coffee companies exhibiting include Nespresso Professional, Drury Tea & Coffee and Kiss the Hippo.
Jacobs Douwe Egberts will showcase a range of machine and product solutions to support hoteliers in delighting their guests with the perfect cup of coffee, including premium coffee bean brand White Ox.
Samuel of Jacobs Douwe Egberts, says: “This distinctively bold and dark roasted debut coffee variant has been masterfully blended to display notes of dark chocolate and crisp red berries, characteristics that make it the perfect base for a wide variety of speciality coffee drinks, from an authentic and intense Espresso, to a smooth, aromatic Cappuccino or Iced Latte.”
With the show providing the luxury and boutique hotel community the chance to catch up with industry friends and make new ones, they are being encouraged to do so over a cup of coffee.
“A coffee is always the start of a good conversation, a moment with someone and always is a focal point to any new conversation,” says Colvin of Cru Kafe.
“Enjoying a coffee break at an event such as The Independent Hotel Show is not only important for business making decisions, but can also help to revitalise during what can be a long day of looking at exhibitors and absorbing information,” says Samuel of Jacobs Douwe Egberts.
“Our findings show that 54% of consumers feel more productive and 46% feel more focused after having a coffee break, so visiting the Jacobs Douwe Egberts stand is a must while you are here to recharge, collect your thoughts and treat your taste buds to a quality cup of coffee.”
