After 20 years, the first restaurant to introduce Chino-Latino cuisine to London is set to close at the end of this month
Asia de Cuba restaurant at St Martins Lane hotel has brought vibrant and colourful flavours to the heart of Covent Garden for the past 20 years. Following its successful introduction of Chino-Latino cuisine to London in 1999, the restaurant will be closing its doors on 28 February 2019 as St Martins Lane prepares to welcome new destinations to the hotel.
From 1 March, St Martins Lane Kitchen, a restaurant pop-up serving an Asian-inspired menu, will replace Asia de Cuba. Exploring the cuisine of Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, starters will include Soft Shell Crab, crispy garlic, bird eye chilli, pepper (£10) and Vietnamese Pomelo Salad, cucumber, carrot, mint and peanut (£8). Main courses will continue the exotic theme with Cambodian Fish Amok, turmeric, lemongrass, coconut, jasmine rice (£16) and Kampot Pepper Baby Chicken, baby corn, carrot, asparagus, long bean (£18). There will be a choice of noodles, rice and vegetables to enjoy on the side, including Blue Swimmer Crab Fried Rice, eggs, Chinese chives (£10), and Wok Asian Greens, morning glory, bok choy, long beans (£5). Indulgent desserts continue to celebrate Asian flavours, such as Kaffir Lime Flan, egg custard, coconut, lime (£6) and Banana and Coconut Cake, Chantilly cream, passion fruit (£6).
St Martins Lane Kitchen will also be serving a brunch menu on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12.00pm to 2.45pm. Savoury dishes on the a la carte menu will include Breakfast In The Fields, eggs, grilled halloumi cheese, avocado, roasted tomato, mushrooms and asparagus (£12) while sweeter options feature Pancakes, fruit compote or maple syrup with crispy bacon (£8.50). For the ultimate indulgence, guests can also choose the bottomless option at £35, with a choice of unlimited prosecco, mimosa, bellini or bespoke bloody mary cocktails.
With St Martins Lane situated at the centre of the theatre district, a pre and post theatre menu will also be available, offering guests 2 courses for £20 or 3 courses for £25 between 5.00-6.30pm and 10.00pm-close.
Blind Spot and The Den will continue to operate as usual offering their own food and beverage menus. Later this spring, St Martins Lane Kitchen and Blind Spot will close for refurbishment in order to introduce one of the highly successful brands from the stellar collection of restaurants in sbe hotels. Further details on the new food and beverage outlets at St Martins Lane will be revealed in due course.
