BELMOND WINS TWO GLOBAL AHEAD AWARDS

Belmond, the pioneer of luxury travel experiences, has added two new awards to their impressive collection at last night’s prestigious AHEAD Global Awards.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge in Botswana’s Okavango Delta received the top award in the ‘Lodges and Tented Camps’ category, hailed by the panel of expert judges as a carefully curated redesign that puts sustainability and guest experience first.

The grand suites on board the iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express were also crowned the best ‘Suites’ in the world. AHEAD honoured the luxury train for exceptional design, contributing to the hospitality experience for their suite.

The AHEAD Global Awards are the culmination of eight regional events that took place in Asia, the Americas, MEA and Europe throughout 2017-2018 with the winner of each regional award progressing to the final – a global biennale celebrating the best in the world of experience and design in the hospitality industry.

Roeland Vos, President and CEO at Belmond, said:

“Belmond delivers exceptional experiences that captivate and inspire through timeless design. To be selected for these awards is an honour, and I am extremely proud of the entire Belmond team whose talent and dedication has enabled us to win in two exceptional categories. These awards cement Belmond’s place at the forefront of luxury.

Belmond’s win comes as the company prepares to open their first London hotel, Belmond Cadogan Hotel, in February.

Arnaud Champenois, SVP, Brand and Marketing at Belmond, said:

At Belmond we offer transformational experiences which transcend the traditional confines of travel – where food, wellness, sustainability, art and design collide to create beautiful memories that stay with guests long after they have returned home. Both designs exemplify our commitment to forging the future of luxury today with our sustainability goals of tomorrow.”
