In just their second year of business, Bournemouth Beach Lodges have scooped a coveted Dorset Tourism Award in the super competitive Glamping and Alternative Accommodation category, having already picked up a very creditable silver award in 2017. The project was also Highly Recommended in the Dog Friendly Business of The Year group.
In a glittering ceremony at Lighthouse – Poole’s Centre for the Arts on Thursday evening, representatives from the Beach Lodges’ project team celebrated with delegates from the county’s most successful organisations and businesses.
Beach Lodges Manager, Laura Odlin said: “Winning a Dorset Tourism Award is a great honour and is a tribute to the whole team that makes the Bournemouth Beach Lodges what they are. I am incredibly proud of everyone!
“We are entering an exciting phase of this amazing project with nine new Lodges opening in the spring of 2019 at the same Boscombe Beach site, each with an equally fantastic design brief.
“As we continue to create unique and unforgettable experiences for our guests, I have no doubt that Phase 2 will be as successful as the original 15 Lodges have been!”
The win for the Beach Lodges perfectly rounds off a fantastic, award-winning and record-breaking year of achievement and recognition for Bournemouth as the UK’s premier destination.
Councillor Pat Oakley, Portfolio Holder responsible for Tourism in Bournemouth, said: “On the back of being lauded as the UK’s best seaside resort with the best beaches, we’ve enjoyed a summer of unprecedented visitor numbers, national and international media coverage, and social media engagement.
“The Beach Lodges are a unique, high quality council-run product and are representative of our commitment to continuous development, investment in tourism and our reputation as a family friendly resort.”
